Ginger and John Welcome You to Ginger's Cameo, Manufacturing Home Office of Cameo Paints

Newsletter
June 2007

HELLO ALL YOU WONDERFUL PEOPLE!

There is weather, weather everywhere and lots of water, thunder, lightening and winds. I think we are all having strange weather. Not that a lot of it isn't just what we need, but it's still strange in different parts of the country for the time of year it is. It's strange to think that less than a month ago we were having temperatures down in the low 40's and high 30's. We are getting a lot of thunder storms right now. That is why this newsletter is so late. I used to leave my computer on and work on it just about no matter what the weather was doing - but after having my new computer go down for so long - I don't take any chances any more. If there is thunder and lightening, my computer is turned off until it's over with. Well, the last two days have been full of thunder and lightening. It would look like it was over and you could hear the next storm in the distance. I figured it would be better to be a few days late then to blow my computer and be a couple of weeks late.

Before that I had another bout with the flu. I don't think I have had the flu this many times in a single year for 15 or 20 years. It's getting ridiculous.

All in all, the newsletter is going to be at least a week late. Maybe next month I can get it out on time. We'll see.

Get the Fall Seminar 2007 on your Calenders NOW!

October 13, 2007

Where: At the Ginger's Cameo facility in Manchester, MI

Well, first things first. There is a change in the Fall Seminar schedule. At the Spring Workshop I was reminded what the weather did last year around the Winter Workshop. We had snow, sleet and ice a couple of days before and it turned cold. Several people have commented before on the Winter Workshop being too late in the year. I have taken all these things into consideration and decided everyone else was right and I need to change the date of the Fall Seminar to a little earlier in the year.

The new date for the Fall Seminar in 2007 is October 13, 2007. This will be the October Seminar (a meeting of students to learn).

This will give us three major up-coming holidays to work with at the Workshop.

I will be kicking off some new products at that time, also. I think they are things that you will like.

We will work on a couple of new/old paint colors.

We will try to have a new type of linen to paint on.

We will try to have a couple of new products to work with.

I, also, have some other things in the works for the Fall Seminar in October.

In looking at the many things that will be happening at the Seminar and things that will be kicked off at the Seminar, I think that you should all make every attempt to be here. Oh, yes, we will be meeting in the new Facility for the first time, also!!!!

It's going to be great! I hope to see you there. You should be able to register ($35.00) on the Web site in a couple of weeks. We will be doing a lot of new things and this will cover a lot of the supplies that you will need - but not all. You will probably have to buy a few added things, too.

Here are some pictures from the Winter 2006 and the Spring 2007 Workshops.

This was the Spring Workshop 2007. As you can see everyone was working really hard learning how to do and why to do different paint techniques. Also, Carol showed her birth certificates using the Baby Quilt 1 transfers. Halleen brought in a possible new transfer that uses a different technique. It might be one of the classes in October. We had lots of good food. Folks left full and knowledgeable. It was a small workshop this time, but a good one. Several were sick and couldn't come.

As you can see, we had a good turn-out for the Winter Workshop even with the bad weather.

We had different projects that we worked on. No one got any of them done, but everybody got them started and learned how to finish them when they got home. The beautiful snowman tablecloth took in many different techniques. They had to learn how to use multiple transfers, how to rag paint' in background to connect them all, and, of course, they learned regular painting techniques.

We got the color wheels started. That project takes a while. It's not that it's hard; it just takes a lot of time. Most folks got theirs done after the Workshop. This is a good tool for figuring out what colors you want to use on a design and seeing what goes together before you actually put paint tip to material.

People brought things to show and share. As you can see, one of those shared designs is now in the Line of Transfers that we carry. These meetings are where I get a lot of ideas for the future, so they are good for you and for me.

You can do one side with just the outline and the other side with the colored books. This will be a great gift to yourself or to someone you know that loves to read. Putting their favorite authors on the books will make it personal and just for them.

Retail is $11.60

Now for only $10.00

Monthly Quilt Clubs

On the transfers for the monthly quilt blocks there is a big picture and a little picture. Obviously the big picture is for the actual quilt block. The smaller pictures can be used for matching little t-shirts or sweat shirts. They can be used for making matching pillows, curtains, dust ruffles, sheets, body pillow covers or maybe even matching towels and wash cloths for a connecting bath room.

Remind your customers that they don't have to make quilts with these transfers. They can use them on shirts and other things. They would make a cute outfit (according to which ones you used) for a little onesy for a baby or a matching sweat suit for a child or adult. How about making a western shirt for someone in your life using the Southwest quilt block transfers? How about putting a south west transfer on your horse blanket?

If any of you travel - these transfers are a good size to go on your luggage. For some luggage, you might have to put the transfer on the quilt block - then put Fabric Glue on the back - let it dry - then cut it out to put on your suitcase. (You might need to cut in multiple pieces to get the look that you want.) After you get it cut out - use the Fabric Glue to put it on the luggage. If you want it to last a long time - after that Fabric Glue is totally dry - put another coat of the Fabric Glue over the top of the whole design. This will, hopefully, keep it safer and make it last longer. When you do something like this it will make it much easier to spot your luggage on the luggage carousel at the airport. It might, also, get you some new customers. There's nothing like advertising to get people to notice what you sell.

Transfer News

There are 3 New Transfers this month

Lets talk about the transfers coming out this month.

Transfer #T4739 Happy Clown

T4739 - Happy Clown

T4739 - Happy Clown - This is a great clown to go with the one that came out last month. I hope all you clown collectors like them.

T4740 - So Many Books, So Little Time: So Many Books, So Little Time - This is one of my favorite shirt transfers. I used it for Christmas gifts one year and it went over really well.

Transfer #4740-So Many Books, So Little Time

4740-So Many Books, So Little Time

Transfer #T4742 - Hat

T4742 - Hat

T4742 - Hat - This is the newest 4th of July transfer. I really like it and hope you do too. It's great for a shirt for the 4th.

Remember this hint: if you need to put on multiple coats of paint, you can always iron your design dry in between coats so you can finish up a design in one class.

Also, when you use your Dual Point Pens, the paint that you use them on must be dry or you will clog up your nib and it wont work anymore. If you are doing faces, for instance, paint the entire face and put any shading on that you need to do then iron the piece dry then go back and detail with your C388 Brown Dual Point Pen.

Final Words

I’ve been trying to hold down the price on shipping – but now I’m starting to lose money on it and prices are going up at the Post Office starting May 14th. (Prices at other shipping places have already gone up.) The increases they are talking about, on top of what I was already losing, means that starting May 1st, 2007 my shipping prices are going to go up.

Remember that shipping is figured on your retail total before your discount.

If you think I should give you a lower shipping amount on your order because it is a small order, you can call and we might be able to adjust it some. No promises though. I’m not in the business of making money on shipping, but sometimes the small orders are what off-set the big orders.

Well, I guess that's all for this month. Keep that those suggestions coming. I need every one of them. See you at a meeting.
